Dear Gent,
35
A. R. P. Department, Colonial Secretary's Office, Hong Kong.
24th March, 1939.
I am most anxious to get legislation
passed whereby all factories which are being
erected in the Colony, and large flats and hotels
where great numbers of people are accommodated,
should be compelled by law to provide splinter proof
protection for their employees or residents as the
case may be.
I spoke with the Law Officers out here but
they are waiting to see what is being done in England.
Would you be good enough to drop me a line as to whether
anything in this line is being done in England, so as to
enable me to frame in conjunction with the Law Officers
any regulations that may be necessary.
I am having a very hectic time out here aid
find it means working very nearly twenty four hours a
day. I hope all goes well with you and your family.
Yours ever,
G. Gent, Esq.
Colonial Office,
LONDON.
